‘Vanderpump Rules’: Which Cast Members Won’t Return for Season 9 and Why

Fans of Vanderpump Rules eagerly await the premiere of season 9 on Sept. 28 after a year-long hiatus due to the pandemic.

But several cast members will not be returning to the show. Here are the cast members who won’t be coming back and why they quit or were fired.

In 2020, Faith Stowers, one of the only black people to be featured on Vanderpump Rules, revealed that fellow cast members Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute reported her to the police for a crime she did not commit. Bravo fired Schroeder and Doute for falsely accusing and endangering Stowers.

According to Variety, Schroeder’s agency, UTA, and her public relations firm, Metro Public Relations, also cut ties with her because of her actions toward Stowers. Fuse Literary, Doute’s book agency, also dropped her.

It’s worth noting that Schroeder and Doute revealed their actions themselves back in a 2018 episode of Schroeder’s podcast, Straight Up With Stassi. Schroeder also talked about it on a 2018 episode of The B— Bible with Jackie Schimmel. Schroeder’s entire podcast has been removed from all platforms.

Jax Taylor is notorious for his bad behavior on Vanderpump Rules, with his partner Brittany Cartwright serving as the sweet foil to his villain. It surprised viewers when he and Cartwright apparently quit the show shortly after Schroeder and Doute were fired.

The couple released matching statements on Instagram. Cartwright said, “The last 5 years on Vanderpump Rules have been some of the most challenging, rewarding and fulfilling years of my life. Although this is difficult to share, Jax and I will not be returning for another season of Vanderpump Rules. We are excited to take this time to focus on our growing family and share with you our new endeavors. @bravotv, @evolutionusa and our Vanderpump castmates will always remain close to our hearts. Thank you to all the fans who have shared our journey with us and supported us through everything. We love you. Stay tuned ♥️”

Fans speculated that they were actually fired from the show since they had given no prior indication of leaving and Bravo had just fired Schroeder and Doute.

Two of season 8’s newcomers were axed from the show after their racist tweets resurfaced. According to People, Max Boyens tweeted back in 2012, “It upsets me that the word n— is not allowed to be said unless you are black because quite honestly it’s my favorite word.”

Another tweet from Boyens in 2012 read, “Something about Asians that just makes me want to punch them in the suck hole.”

Caprioni’s tweets from 2011 and 2012 involve frequent use of the n-word and referring to women as “b—” and “whore.”

Both have apologized for their tweets since being cut from the show. They retained their jobs at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants, although Boyens has quit his management position at TomTom.

Season 8 newcomer Dana Kathan is very candid on social media about mental health, and she seemingly left the show to take care of herself.

Kathan told E! News of her departure, “It was a tough decision for me but ultimately the right one. I’m grateful for the experience and wish everyone on the show all the best!”

On Mar. 9, Kathan posted a smiling photo of herself on Instagram with the caption, “toward the end of last year i found myself in the worst place i had been in for better part of the last decade. my mental health spiraled and i was hanging on by a thread. after getting some help and making some major changes in my life i can honestly say i’ve never been happier. if you are struggling, please know no matter how lost in the darkness you are you can always come back to the light. 🤍”

Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz, partial owners and the namesake of TomTom restaurant, will be returning in season 9. Their respective partners Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney will also be on the show.

Newly engaged couple James Kennedy and Raquel Leviss will be back, and it’s likely that their engagement will be featured. Scheana Shay will be back, bringing newcomer Brock Davies, her partner and the father of her child, with her.

Lala Kent will return, and it’s likely that Randall Emmett, her fiancé and the father of her child, will appear in some capacity as well.

Charli Burnett may be the only newcomer from season 8 to return for season 9 of the show. It’s unknown whether the last newcomer Danica Dow will return, but she has dealt with some legal drama since the last season of the show aired.
