‘Spirited’: Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds Join Forces for Upcoming Apple TV+ Christmas Musical

Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds are two of the most hilarious actors in recent memory. They have both done their fair share of comedy movies which have given them commercial success. In fact, Ferrell’s Step Brothers and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, both became instant classics. The duo always has fans cracking up both on and off the big screen.

Of course, it’s never too early to get into the Christmas spirit. A recent announcement confirms that the duo will be appearing together in an upcoming holiday musical.

Charles Dickens is undoubtedly one of the most famous writers in history. The English author wrote A Christmas Carol way back in 1843. The novella is a classic story and has seen numerous adaptions including both plays and series.

The story surrounds Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserable, greedy man. An old business partner surprisingly visits the miser along with several other ghosts who try and help him. He comes to change his ways and vows to treat everyone with kindness and generosity from now on.

The upcoming film, starring Ferrell and Reynolds, will adapt the novella with a slight twist. Rather than simply telling the story, the movie will instead be a modern musical re-imagining.

Like always, The Deadpool actors antics have been on full display lately. He recently posted a funny tweet about him and the Elf star taking part in a viral TikTok trend.

The new trend is called the ‘Grace Kelly challenge’ and sees users singing a rendition of the 2007 song ‘Grace Kelly’ by artist Mika.

In the posted tweet, Reynolds begins by singing the melody in a pretty melodious voice. However, after a while, Ferrell comes in with a high-pitched tone that will no doubt leave you laughing. The two are both in what looks like costumes for the upcoming Christmas movie.

Alongside the two main stars, the Spirited cast includes Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mani, and Patrick Page, according to Deadline. Spencer’s most recent work was in the Netflix limited series Self Made, which put her up for an Emmy nomination.

Mani is best known for her role as Trenton in the hit USA series Mr. Robot. Page is a singer and playwright and has played as the Grinch in Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical.

Sean Anders and John Morris are writing and directing the film, which is being distributed by Apple TV+. The streaming service beat out both Paramount and Warner Bros. for the rights to the film. According to a report by Collider, the total budget for talent is somewhere north of $75 million.

While there is no release date yet, filming is currently taking place in Massachusetts.
