Joanna Gaines’ Magnolia Journal cover drew a lot of criticism

Some of Gaines’ Instagram followers shared their disappointment about her Magnolia Journal cover choice, believing it’s a nod to Pride Month.

“She’s making a statement,” one person wrote in the comments. Another follower commented, “Very sad to see this.”

Another Instagram user shared, “If you guys are jumping on the bandwagon with your rainbow to gain more followers for the month of June (Pride), because it’s expected? I’m done with Magnolia. Be the exception. Not Woke.”

Others wondered how the Christian couple could support Pride Month, with comments including, “This ‘Christian’ couple’s subtle way of promoting Pride Month!! So disappointing @joannagaines” and “I’m confused! I thought that Chip and Joanna were Christians?”

One person wrote, “Absolutely you don’t profess Christianity and then endorse sin. If they’re going to do it then go ahead and say that they switched sides, don’t pander.”

Some fans shared their intentions to stop following the Gaines family after seeing the cover. “Totally lost my interest, which was huge, in Magnolia anything,” one person wrote. Another follower stated, “I do not love this! I will no longer support Magnolia. I will not support your woke enthusiasm!”

In the comment section of the Magnolia Instagram account’s post about the cover, many shared their disappointment. “I’m really disappointed in this cover. I think an explanation straight should be given,” one person wrote. “These covers are planned months in advance. This is purposeful. The wishy-washiness is sad.”

Another person wrote, “I hope this isn’t an ambiguous nod to Pride Month, that would be horribly disappointing.”

Plenty of Joanna Gaines’ fans love the new cover for Pride Month

Not everyone is so offended by Gaines’ Magnolia Journal rainbow cover, however. Plenty of her followers chimed in with comments about loving the connection to Pride Month.

“LOVED this front cover!!!” one follower shared. Another noted, “Perfect for Pride Month.”

“Why not connect the dots? A rainbow in June has a very specific meaning — inclusivity, equality, and love,” one fan commented. “You have to get behind that message, right?”

“Maybe it’s just lovely and retro and if it’s also inclusive and meant for Pride Month, how nice,” another person noted. “The world can use more kindness and love, not less. If that offends you, then you have the problem.”

Other fans gushed, “Best cover yet!!!” and “Such a great cover.”
